Product Overview
Crane wheels cast from 55# steel undergo rough and finish turning on lathes followed by precision assembly for traveling mechanisms of cranes. These components are essential for reliable crane operation and longevity.
Active Wheel Assembly
The active wheel assembly includes critical components such as the drive shaft, bearing housing, bearings, wheel, shaft sleeve, key, and other fittings. This assembly connects with the reducer, motor, and brake systems to drive the passive wheel assembly during travel operations. The traveling mechanism on trolleys typically employs single-flange wheels for optimal performance.

Application Scope

Double-Flange Wheel Assemblies: Primarily used for bridge traveling mechanisms of cranes with capacity below 50T. After surface hardening, tread hardness reaches HB330-380. With overall quenching and tempering heat treatment, performance is further enhanced.

Material Options: Wheels made of ZG50SiMn material can increase wheel load capacity by 20%. All bearings in double-flange assemblies are tapered roller bearings. The ZG50SiMn material improves performance by 20% with a 15% price increase.

Single-Flange Wheels: Commonly used as traveling wheels for trolleys of overhead and gantry cranes, with flange height of 20mm to 25mm. Standard material is cast ZG340-640 unless otherwise specified.

Critical Technical Considerations
The horizontal skew value of crane traveling mechanism wheels is a critical technical parameter. Excessive skew can cause rail gnawing, increase running resistance, generate vibration and noise, accelerate wear on both rails and wheels, and significantly reduce crane service life. Various crane manufacturing technical specifications stipulate permissible limits for wheel horizontal skew values to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

We ordered a batch of LD crane wheel assemblies for our workshop overhead crane maintenance project.
