Integral Forged 42CrMo Crane Wheels with Double-Flange Design for Overhead Cranes

Product Introduction

Crane wheels, also known as overhead crane wheels, are critical wearable components widely fitted on overhead travelling cranes, gantry cranes, port machinery, mining equipment and other material handling machinery. The performance of wheels directly affects equipment operational stability and maintenance cycles.

Our forged crane wheels and wheel assemblies adopt high-strength forging materials, precise heat treatment and diversified structural designs, delivering stable load-bearing performance and reliable operation to suit diverse working conditions.


Material and Technical Advantages

Unlike ordinary cast steel wheels, our products are manufactured from high-strength forged alloy steel including 42CrMo and 65Mn.

The forging process eliminates internal porosity and shrinkage cavities, with continuous metal flow lines following wheel profiles. Compared with cast wheels, forged wheels feature higher load capacity, superior impact resistance and longer service life.
42CrMo: Ultra-high strength steel with excellent hardenability. After quenching and tempering, it boasts outstanding fatigue strength, repeated shock resistance and favorable low-temperature impact toughness. For high-hardness industrial wheels, 42CrMo outperforms 60 steel in processing performance and practical usability.
65Mn: Achieves high strength with balanced toughness and plasticity after heat treatment and cold drawing hardening.


Product Range and Selection Guide

We supply separate wheels as well as complete wheel assemblies (consisting of wheel, shaft, bearing housing, coupling and other accessories) for flexible configuration.

Based on flange design, crane wheels fall into three categories: double-flange wheels, single-flange wheels and flangeless wheels matched with horizontal guide wheels.
Double-flange wheels: Reliable guiding effect to prevent derailment, ideal for general trolley & crab travel mechanisms.
Single-flange wheels: Compact structure, working with track guidance, mainly adopted for crane long travel mechanisms.
Flangeless wheels + horizontal guide wheels: Greatly reduce friction between wheel flange and track side, preferred for long-span gantry cranes.
Wheel diameter ranges from Φ250mm to Φ900mm; larger specifications are available upon custom negotiation. Standard wheel assembly models L762, L758, L756, L754 are ready for matching, covering various load capacities and rail gauges.
