Product Overview
The drum group is a critical component of the crane hoisting mechanism, typically consisting of the drum, drum shaft, gear coupling (or large gear), drum hub, bearing housing, and bearings. When a rotary-type upper-limit switch is mounted on one end of the drum shaft, it is essential that the shaft rotates synchronously with the limit switch spindle to ensure proper hoisting limit protection.

Classification by Manufacturing Method
According to the manufacturing process, drums are categorized as cast drums and welded drums:
Cast drums – made from HT200 gray cast iron or ZG270-500 cast steel; they are cost-effective and well-suited for standard operating conditions.
Welded drums – fabricated from Q235B or Q345B steel plates; they are designed for heavy-duty cranes with high-performance requirements. It is worth noting that large cast iron drums are increasingly difficult to manufacture, and welded steel plate drums have become the prevailing choice in international markets.
Classification by Rope Winding Layer
Based on the number of rope winding layers, drums are classified as single-layer winding drums and multi-layer winding drums:
Single-layer winding drums – used in conventional hoisting mechanisms, ensuring neat and orderly rope arrangement.
Multi-layer winding drums – designed for applications requiring high lifting heights, effectively reducing the overall drum size while accommodating longer rope lengths.
